What was (or is) the motivation to desire a "non-causal universe", I wonder. Probably goes back to Religion. Always does. As you have said, here or elsewhere, the Gnostic Heresy rears its head. That initial heresy is so very strong and so very compelling.

"I observe a thing and make it so. I am God in actuality."

Never considering that this assumption makes they themselves less likely to be real or in possession of free will by implication.
