How to explain the outsized influence of German philosophers and scientists?

What was (or is) the motivation to desire a "non-causal universe", I wonder. Probably goes back to Religion. Always does. As you have said, here or elsewhere, the Gnostic Heresy rears its head. That initial heresy is so very strong and so very compelling.

"I observe a thing and make it so. I am God in actuality."

Never considering that this assumption makes they themselves less likely to be real or in possession of free will by implication.

Agree with the take on religion, they've sponsored/controlled all the sciences since c.1100. (This could be nefarious but as likely drip-fed to align with natural law).

Just finished watching the latest Thunderbolts vid.; there was a quote by Michael Armstrong. I thought the language was very interesting: "Why do we think the atom is the beginning and the END of an electric charge influence in the physical universe, which we now know is structured like a 3-D web of galaxies connected by glowing, twisting filaments." (Emphasis theirs.)

Adam, Alpha and Omega; Atom - the Beginning and the End.

I think this is less alignment with religion and more an attempt to break with religion, specifically Christianity. The heresies tend to place Man in God's place, and that appears to be why "non-causal behavior" is favored. It removes deterministic processes from sciences while absolving people of the need to correct failings -- "It's just the way it worked out, so no worries, man! Sin and judgment aren't an issue in QM!"

Plasma Universe has already established itself with IEEE, and Anthony L. Peratt's updated text is compelling on the matter of electromagnetism playing a measurable role with gravity in Cosmogony. The fact that modern astrophysicists and cosmogonists refuse to accept electric currents in space and between astronomical bodies is truly a matter of dogma-over-science, especially with known features in near-space such as sprites, the magnetosphere, solar "wind" (actually the 'solar current'), and the heliopause demonstrating EM features. Again, some of the old guard will need to pass on to break more of that wall down for new thought to be considered.

Agreed, no causality, no consequences.

Btw. this influence of personal metaphysical baggage on making scientific hypothesis shows that science is rather secondary endeavor to philosophy, esp. metaphysics and to developing personal virtues. So we see people doing science to confirm and promote their own agenda.

I probably wasn't clear. Had a big day and I should jolly well shut up and go to bed. I agree with your take on the church and their decision to inflict non-causal behaviour on the physical world. They've dictated the dominant scientific paradigm for c.700 years. It was a means to an end, to completely flatten our perspective and take away the idea of gods/God (which is an electric ... source or force) and thus 'demonic' thinking becomes a powerful egregore.

In reality quantum has to be causal, brain waves are radio waves which influence plasma. The church bent everyone's free will to their will and dropped the mind's laser potential to a sputtering candle over the last hundred years (at least).

By overriding Slater (and Birkeland et al.) the dogmatics won the day. Or the century.

Brain go sleep now.
